Valentines Day Photo Shoot

For my birthday in November, my husband and mom went in together to get me the best gift ever: a DSLR. I have been wanting one for at least 5 years. Since November I have been trying to slowly take some time to learn how to take better pictures. I am not yet shooting in manual but I have learned a few things. I have also decided that themed photoshoots are my new favorites. Here are some pictures from a little Valentine Mini Session with my sweetie.

I could just squeeze her cheeks all day long. DSC_0845 - Version 2 DSC_0854 - Version 2 DSC_0859 - Version 2I love this small quilt. My mom made it for me when I was little.  So happy I get to use it for P now. DSC_0876 - Version 2I saw this rug on a Pinterest photo and set out to get it.

All my props were from Target. They really had a fabulous selection this year.

Are you doing a Valentines shoot with your little one? If so post a link so I can ooh and ahh over them. Holidays really are so much more fun with kids.

Peyton’s First Christmas

While it wasn’t a white Christmas we did have a fabulous time celebrating with family that traveled to be with us. Here are a few photos :

DSC_0378 - Version 2  Peyton absolutely loved opening presents. I figured she would just stare at them and let us do it all but she got in there and tore off some paper.

DSC_0460 - Version 2We took a trip into the city with family. I loved this patriotic tree at the Smithsonian.

What was the highlight of your holiday? Did you have family visit and did you do any “tourist-y” things?

Peyton ate some sweet potatoes to celebrate.

I am thankful for so many things this year. I am thankful for the opportunity that brought us to NOVA. It may not have turned out exactly how we wanted and things have definitely been hard but I am thankful for this experience. It has allowed me to meet so many wonderful other mothers whom I never would have had the opportunity to meet. I am thankful for a hardworking husband. His new gig is definitely not for the faint of heart. He has worked so many long days. I miss him daily and I know he misses us but he works so hard to provide for us. I am thankful for my job that allows me to work part time from home. I am thankful that my brother got to spend thanksgiving with us. We don’t get to spend a lot of time together and it was nice having him here for several days. Lastly I am, of course, thankful for the little turkey pictured above. I could have never imagined the love she would have brought to our lives and the way it has made me love my husband even more. This year I can definitely say I am beyond blessed.

I hope everyone had such an amazing holiday.
